Day 3: Puzzles, Legos, and Sharpies

I am grateful for the little things that keep me busy and provide some type of fulfillment in my life.

I spent most of today coloring.  I printed out intricate design patterns and used a variety of Sharpies to create beautiful little pictures.  Yes, I am 28-years-old.  I am not ashamed to say that I love to color and I always have.  It felt like I was being inducted into a new community when I first Googled "coloring pictures for adults" and when I did a Pinterest search for the same thing.  I was the kid, and am still the adult, that needs to have the gigantic box of crayons with the random colors like 'Robin's Egg Blue' and 'Atomic Tangerine'.  If I had to add up the money I've spent on crayons, colored pencils, and markers I would most likely have enough to go a small vacation.  This is the truth; I am in no way exaggerating.

I have also spent many hours putting together Lego structures.  The Hogwart's Castle and purple Knight Bus are currently featured on the top of my bookcase in the office.  I am very proud of these.  On New Year's Eve and most of New Year's Day, my husband, best friend, and I spent the majority of the holiday putting together a 1000 piece Disney puzzle (thanks Darlene!).  We separated out the pieces and each took charge of a particular section of the puzzle.  It's sitting on my dining room table right now, but eventually it will take it's rightful place on a wall, probably near the Legos somewhere.

This post may be a little silly, but that's okay.  I have been smiling since I started typing these words.  It gives me a sense of accomplishment when I put the piece of puzzle in place, or step back and look at a completed Lego building.  I like to tinker with things, and I am grateful to have things that can occupy this part of my brain.  I hope that I will never loose this part of me - the part that is not afraid to feel childish or get excited to find a whole new website filled with coloring pages.  I hope that when I have children I can share this joy with them, in an attempt to show them that the world doesn't need to revolve around a screen.  I am grateful for crayons, paper, puzzles, and Legos.
